about

I was inspired to write this song because Merle’s last residence was on Lake Ten Killer near Tahlequah, OK. The house he lived in was originally built by Travis’ good friend, Hank Thompson. Merle’s last wife, Dorothy, was married to Hank for a number of years before they divorced in the late ’60s. Merle and Dorothy were married in 1980, and lived at the house until Travis’ death in 1983. The house is currently being restored to its former glory. I hope this song conveys the good times folks once had at this beautiful house, and hopefully will again in the near future.
